Dew Drop Drill: A No-Till Seed Drill for ATVs and UTVs

Three-foot working width, random no-row pattern, ground-driven metering. $9,395 plus shipping, direct from the shop in Spencer, Iowa.

What is the Dew Drop Drill

The Dew Drop Drill is a no-till seed drill with a three-foot working width, built to be pulled by an ATV or UTV rather than a tractor. It plants warm and cool-season grasses, wildflowers, forbs, legumes, small and large grains, and food plot mixes. Twin ground-driven seed boxes meter the seed, twelve offset discs set at 0, 10, or 20 degrees open the ground up to three inches, and ten spring harrow tines fold the seed in behind them. Seed goes down in a random pattern across the full three-foot band, not in defined rows.

It is built and sold direct from Spencer, Iowa by Prairie & Plot Specialty Equipment. No dealer network, no distributor markup. The person who answers the phone is the person who builds the machine.

If you have been comparing it against no-till seeders and food plot seeders in the same price range, the distinction to hold onto is metering. This machine places seed at a set depth and covers it. A seeder or spreader puts seed on the surface and hopes.

How does the Dew Drop Drill get seed into the ground?

Seed is metered out of the boxes into a drop chute that spreads it across the full three-foot width. From there it falls onto the harrow tines, which fold it into the soil for an even seedbed. Because the pattern is random rather than rowed, you get more even ground cover and less open lane between rows for weeds to move into.

What goes in which seed box?

Large Seed Box

  • Designed for large seeds, grass seed, and food plot mixes

  • Metered drop chute with five picker wheels

  • Five agitators prevent seed from compacting

  • Five application rates controlled by quick-change sprockets

Small Seed Box

  • Ideal for small seeds and delicate planting needs

  • Metered through five fluted seed cups

  • Nine application rates controlled by adjustable settings

  • Can be used together with the large seed box or independently

  • Chain-driven system ensures constant application rate

  • Travel speed does not impact seed application

What can it plant, and how does it work the soil?

The Dew Drop Drill is adaptable for multiple planting methods:

  • No-Till, Interseeding, and Overseeding – Designed to handle warm and cool-season grasses, small and large grains, wildflowers, forbs, legumes, and food plot mixes.
  • Adjustable Discs – Two rows of 6 offset discs (12 total) can be adjusted between 0, 10, and 20-degree angles for varying soil penetration.
  • Spring Harrow Tines – A row of 10 spring harrow tines ensures optimal seed-to-soil contact.
  • Triple Tine Kit (optional, $600) – Replaces the disc system with three rows of harrow tines, creating thirty staggered soil channels. Built for rocky and arid soils.

The Dew Drop Drill is designed to operate in the toughest conditions:

  • Wide stance and low center of gravity provide stability on slopes and rough ground.
  • Independent 12V power system with an FCC-approved wireless remote for easy control.
  • Adjustable disc depth and force for customized planting needs.
  • Compatible with ATVs, UTVs, garden tractors, and even mules or horses.
  • Recommended ATV or UTV size: 450CC or larger for hilly terrain.
