Prairie & Plot Specialty Equipment is a veteran-owned small business in Spencer, in northwest Iowa. We build one machine and build it well: the Dew Drop Drill, a compact no-till seed drill sized for ATVs and UTVs, sold direct to the people who use it.
We are in the heart of tallgrass prairie country, along the Little Sioux River in the Great Missouri River Basin. That matters more than it reads. This is ground where prairie restoration is ordinary work, where county conservation boards run their own seed programs, and where whether a stand took is a normal thing to argue about.
It got built because it could not be bought.
Anyone who has tried to put native seed into small ground knows the problem. A full-size drill needs a tractor, a trailer, and room to turn around, and the ground that most needs planting rarely offers any of the three. Waterways. Fence lines. Steep pasture. The back corner of a timber that floods every spring. Broadcasting is the usual fallback, and broadcasting onto rough or covered ground gives you results you cannot predict and seed you do not get back.
So the machine was built to fit that gap. Three feet wide, ground-driven, low to the ground, wide-stanced, and light enough for a four-wheeler to pull. Every one built since has been built to the same purpose.
There is no dealer network and no distributor. When you call, you reach the shop. When you need a part, it comes from the people who built your machine rather than a parts desk three states away. When you ask what it costs, you get a number instead of a form.
That is why the price is published on the product page. Most of this category makes you call for a quote. We would rather you knew before you picked up the phone.
